Moderate
High evidence confidence · 94% evidence coverage
This score is driven most by balanced overall demands. Difficulty V2's separate time-limit modifier adds 0.15 points here and is capped at 0.70; a broad limit cannot erase extreme intrinsic demand. This is independent of the public Cutoff Pressure V2 band.
Course analysis
Expect sustained upland ground and meaningful climbing.
Climbing density
24.5m per km
A more useful comparison than total ascent alone: it shows how consistently the course asks you to climb.
Cutoff analysis
To finish inside 12h 30m, the raw average required is 12:30 per kilometre (20:07 per mile), including every stop.
Cutoff pressure compares the published time limit with distance, ascent and verified course demands. Lower pressure does not mean the race is easy. Raw pace includes checkpoints, food stops, navigation errors and any sleep; it is not a pacing plan.
Who this suits
Better suited to runners with prior ultra, mountain or technical-terrain experience than to somebody choosing their first ultra.
4.8/10 suitability
Navigation
Route-finding is part of the challenge. Carry the required mapping tools and be able to use them in darkness and poor visibility.
Exposure & kit
Night running is not expected for most entrants based on the current format, but final kit rules still take priority.
Personal race predictor
Use a previous result to estimate a realistic range for Saint Cuthbert’s Way Ultra 60K, your potential buffer and the biggest change in demand.
Practical detail

Latest verification
The organiser verifies 10 July 2027, open entry, the marketed 60K, 4,824ft ascent, 12.5-hour limit and 150-runner course-page cap. The marked route still requires runners to take responsibility for navigation. The checkpoint table totals about 62km, and stale 45-mile labels are retained only as an alias for the replaced short option.
Still unverified: entry price.
Event details can change after a successful source check. Confirm the final route, kit, cutoff, price and entry terms directly with the organiser before entering or travelling.
