Next edition
This is the most relevant confirmed edition currently held for the permanent race family. Edition-specific facts should still be checked against the final organiser instructions.

These facts belong to the 2026 edition only. Missing values have not been copied from another year.
Official entry, organiser report/news and OpenTracking results evidence the completed 11–12 April 2026 edition. The 46-mile route converts to approximately 74.03km. Solo runners and teams of two to four share one course and permanent identity. Three staffed food checkpoints, a 24-hour overall limit and extensive emergency kit are published; two intermediate cutoffs exist, but their times are not stored because the evidence reviewed does not publish them. Navigation is the runner's responsibility between the 20 numbered checkpoints.

Hard
High evidence confidence · 84% evidence coverage
This score is driven most by high climbing demand, technical terrain, exposure and self-sufficiency. Difficulty V2's separate time-limit modifier adds 0.00 points here and is capped at 0.70; a broad limit cannot erase extreme intrinsic demand. This is independent of the public Cutoff Pressure V2 band.
Course analysis
Expect sustained upland ground and meaningful climbing, sections where foot placement and downhill confidence matter, exposed moorland where weather can amplify the difficulty.
Climbing density
62.1m per km
A more useful comparison than total ascent alone: it shows how consistently the course asks you to climb.
Cutoff analysis
To finish inside 24h, the raw average required is 19:27 per kilometre (31:18 per mile), including every stop.
Cutoff pressure compares the published time limit with distance, ascent and verified course demands. Lower pressure does not mean the race is easy. Raw pace includes checkpoints, food stops, navigation errors and any sleep; it is not a pacing plan.
Who this suits
This is not designed as a first-ultra recommendation. Significant endurance, navigation or mountain-race experience is strongly advised.
1/10 suitability
Navigation
Route-finding is part of the challenge. Carry the required mapping tools and be able to use them in darkness and poor visibility.
Exposure & kit
Some entrants may run into darkness depending on pace and start time. Prepare lighting even if your best-case plan finishes earlier.
Personal race predictor
Use a previous result to estimate a realistic range for Bruce's Crown Race, your potential buffer and the biggest change in demand.

Latest verification
The official listing verifies 3–4 April 2027 and open entry through a pre-selection process at £75 per solo runner, with teams of two to four offered as companion categories on the same course. It publishes three staffed food checkpoints, two on-route cutoffs and a 24-hour overall limit; the intermediate cutoff times remain unknown. Navigation is the runner's responsibility between the 20 numbered checkpoints, and the organiser's extensive emergency-kit rules apply.
Elevation is approximate or awaiting final confirmation.
Event details can change after a successful source check. Confirm the final route, kit, cutoff, price and entry terms directly with the organiser before entering or travelling.
